Thomas Duryea Logicalis migrates City of Stonnington to the Cloud

City of Stonnington is a local Council in Victoria, covering some of Melbourne’s most vibrant neighbourhoods including Prahran and Windsor and the famous Chapel Street shopping promenade.

The Council systems and processes needed an upgrade to match the demographic of the constituents within its neighbourhoods. With aging infrastructure becoming an issue, the council was forced to consider its options.

The viable options were as follows:

  • Do nothing
  • Upgrade the current data centre
  • Move to the Cloud

Factors that the Council needed to consider were:

  • A pending office move, did they really need to find additional space for a computer room?
  • The need to look at bolstering disaster recovery capabilities as well as the manpower it took to maintain the computer room and hardware in the data centre
  • IT needed to spend more attention on innovative projects for their residents
  • Once a move to Cloud was decided upon, it was important to understand the Council’s Cloud-readiness. Stonnington engaged TDL to conduct a Cloud-readiness assessment, then went to tender to move to a Cloud platform
