Logicalis Moves Into Virtual
Workspace
~ launches new Citrix / Cisco solution and
is recognized as a Cisco Identity Services Engine Authorized
Technology Provider ~
Sydney, March 28, 2012 – Logicalis Australia,
the IT solutions and managed services provider, has today launched
Logicalis Virtual Workspace to address the increasing security,
storage, cost and productivity concerns around Bring Your Own
Device (BYOD) computing and mobile workforces.
Virtual Workspace is a solution that combines Cisco and Citrix
desktop and application virtualisation, voice and video technology
via a low footprint virtual environment combined with mobile device
management. It specifically addresses the evolving workplace
landscape of heterogeneous end-point devices, mobile workers,
geographically dispersed resources, Windows 7 migration and data
leakage and loss prevention. Virtual Workspace helps CIOs and other
IT professionals manage the corporate network by addressing:
- Network: is there a network infrastructure to support all of
these “foreign” BYOD devices securely and how does it cater for
possible increased WAN traffic?
- Data centre: is there the necessary compute and storage
capability?
- Collaboration: will the virtual workspace solution enable
employees to collaborate more effectively? Will voice and video
perform in this environment?
- Policy: is there appropriate security in place, and, what is
“appropriate” security? Are there legal or compliance issues to
consider?
- Culture: how to engage the appropriate stakeholders and
critically, how to build the business case and measure the
benefits
Specifically, Virtual Workplace will deliver cost savings
(including a reduction in HR related expenses, ability to recruit
labour in low cost areas and reduced real estate costs), improve
employee productivity enabled by workshifting, facilitate improved
employee job satisfaction and retention, and increase collaboration
between employees, partners and customers.
Logicalis Australia is also proud to announce it has achieved
Identity Services Engine (ISE) Authorized Technology Provider (ATP)
status from Cisco. Highly secure wired and wireless network
infrastructure is seen as the first building block to supporting
the growing use of personal or corporate smart phones and tablet
devices by employees within the workplace. This ATP designation
recognises Logicalis as having fulfilled the training requirements
and program prerequisites to sell deploy and support Cisco ISE
products and solutions.
The Logicalis Virtual Virtual Workspace (LVW) solution combines the
architectural benefits of data centre, Borderless Network and
collaboration solutions from Cisco with the powerful capabilities
of Citrix XenDesktop, XenApp, NetScaler, MobileIron Device
Management and AppSense User Virtualisation. The Logicalis solution
is available as a fully integrated end-to-end solution of all
vendor products and technologies, or as modular layers that can be
deployed in any combination to create a customer-specific solution
offering. The Logicalis Virtual Workspace is also available as a
managed service.
“Virtual working, or workshifting as it is also known, and BYOD is
only going to increase in Australia and the challenge right now for
organisations in managing mobility and the myriad of computing
devices is to do it securely and efficiently. Virtual Workspace
integrates the best Citrix and Cisco technologies to enable a
virtual workspace that delivers demonstrable benefits to employees
and reduces the management headache for IT professionals,” said
Oliver Descoeudres, Marketing Director at Logicalis. “We have an
extremely strong heritage in designing networks to support very
specific and complex customer requirements, and intend become the
leading BYOD services provider in Australia.”
“We at Citrix share Logicalis’ view of the Australian IT market and
the drivers of IT consumption moving forward. Workshifting, mobile
work styles and BYOD are all key challenges – and opportunities –
that most corporate customers face. We are delighted that Logicalis
has come to market with an offering directly addressing these
opportunities and are working closely with them and Cisco to ensure
we have a best of breed solution,” said Neville James, Channel
Director – ANZ at Citrix.
“By taking advantage of the changing nature of work in businesses
across Australia, Logicalis’ Virtual Workspace solution can help
provide its customers with an exceptionally flexible and highly
secure workspace experience. As a Cisco Identity Services Engine
Authorized Technology Provider, Logicalis is a member of an elite
ecosystem of industry leaders working with Cisco to stimulate
technology innovation and accelerate the market adoption of virtual
desktop infrastructure,” said Sara Adams, Managing Director of the
