| Logicalis Group, the international IT and
Communications services provider, has agreed to acquire NetStar
Group Holdings Ltd (“NetStar”), a leading IP network infrastructure
services provider in Asia-Pacific with capabilities and expertise
across data, voice and security infrastructure, for USD$19.8m.
NetStar has three main units, centred in Australia, Singapore
and Taiwan, with further operations in Malaysia, Hong Kong and
China. It has over 300 employees in total.
The acquisition is a key strategic development for Logicalis as
it immediately provides the Group with a footprint and operations
across most of the Asia-Pacific region, with hubs in key commercial
centres.
NetStar has a strong focus on Cisco network integration
solutions and the data centre, particularly across the Australian
operation. The Singapore business also provides an
Infrastructure-as-a-Service for Telecommunications service provider
customers.
NetStar’s network of offices across the Asia-Pacific region
combined with its primary Network Operations Centre in Malaysia,
has the facilities to support the needs of multi-national
corporations. It services over 1,500 companies across the
Asia-Pacific region, including some of the largest IP networks in
Australia.
NetStar has also recently entered the data centre market to
exploit opportunities through the convergence of IP networking,
storage and server infrastructure occurring in the corporate IT
environment. This combined with Logicalis’ expertise and
international reach, positions the Group well to take advantage of
emerging cloud computing architectures. With revenues in excess of
US$1billion and 1,900 employees in UK, US, Germany, South America
and now Asia-Pacific, Logicalis is fast establishing itself as one
of the leading international IT and Communications service
providers, specialising in the areas of communications and
collaboration, the data centre and professional and managed
services.
Ian Cook, Chief Executive of Logicalis Group,
comments:
“This is a significant strategic development for us which
immediately opens up new market opportunities in the faster growing
economies in Asia-Pacific - a region that is important for both our
customers and our strategic partners.
“NetStar with its tremendous customer base, has great
capabilities and experience in the areas of network integration,
data centre and managed services, with strong annuity revenues. We
expect to further build upon the Cisco focused businesses and
extend our offering to include data centre solutions to mirror the
other existing Logicalis markets.
This acquisition gives both us and NetStar access to new
skills and markets allowing both organisations to extend their
international reach.”
Chris Meager, CEO of NetStar Australia,
comments:
“This is an exciting opportunity for NetStar and gives us
the opportunity to expand our reach and provide our customers with
the benefit of additional capabilities and a broader strategy going
forward.
“We look forward to working within the Logicalis operation
and the positive outcomes our customers and our business will reap
as a result.”
